How it Works

Cafés start with a talk from the speaker to introduce the topic.
A short break allows glasses to be refilled before beginning a lively period of questions and answers and general discussion.

Anyone can ask a question, and those which begin, "This might be a stupid question, but..." are especially welcome.

General conversation and socializing conclude the event.

Come join us for lively scientific discussions.
It's like continuing education, except it's… free, fun and funky!

Started in the U.K. in 1998, today there are more than 150 cafés around the world where scientists or writers on science can discuss their work with diverse audiences outside of a traditional academic context. With the launch of a local chapter, Philadelphia's legions of armchair science buffs can now explore the latest ideas in science and technology in an informal and friendly setting.
